Sibu Island Cabanas

Just off the eastern shore of Mersing, Johor lies the two islands known as Sibu Island. On the larger island lies the Sibu Island Resort. But if you`re looking for that cosy small comfy resort feeling, you`d be happy trying the Sibu Island Cabanas.

A small resort lying in front of a private beach of golden white sand, clear turqoise waters and fabulous balmy sun, you could spend days here in the shade of the trees enjoying a good book and a drink. I know, cos I did. The travel there is but a short bus ride to Mersing before a boat ride to the island resort.

When your fancy takes you, step into the water and check out the marine life through the clear waters. Beware the occasional jellyfish, though. You might want to travel over to Coral Island, where beaches of corals shelter colorful fishes and sea cucumbers. Slap on that sunblock before you get out there, though.

Two types of accomodations are offered, both single unit chalets with ensuite bathrooms. The Cabanas chalets are beachfront, with the beach at your doorstep, and air-conditioned for those who like to chill a little. The Labamba Chalets are for those who love the tropical weather, with a large airy verandah, hot showers and ceiling fans. The rooms are typically generous, as are the king sized beds.

The absolute best part, though, has to be the food. The food gets cooked when you order, not before, and the simple fare is typically homecooked, not overladen with oil and lard. It is simple, tasty, and you come back for more.
