Romantic dinner date : Les Amis Au Jardin
This romantic restaurant is set amidst the lush greenery of the Botanic Gardens, sufficiently far away that the hustle and bustle of Holland Road does not intrude into the romantic ambience.
The service here is impeccable and thoughtful. The food comes in delightfully small tasty portions that’d you’d enjoy, but will give you enough time in between courses to savour the ambience and company you share.
Reservations are essential - seating is limited and seats run out fast, even on weekdays.
For a truly romantic date, I would recommend the degustation menu. It saves the trouble of making a decision of what to eat - you’d simply be served seven courses. It can be a little expensive though. If you’re on a budget, go for the table d’hote - a three course set - that’s cheaper, but still contains the best of what Au Jardin has to offer.
Cheaper yet are the Friday luncheon and Sunday Brunch menus - the latter includes an additional buffet spread - at 55 and 68 dollars per person respectively.
Unless your date’s a vegetarian, the duck and wagyu beef steak are to die for. And dessert - just pick anything with chocolate and you can’t go wrong.
It’s a beautiful place to make a proposal, or celebrate an anniversary. Do let the staff know if you’re celebrating any special occasion, and they’d be glad to help almost any way they can.
How to get there
If you’re driving or taking a cab, turn into Cluny Road and park or drop off the the National Parks HQ building - from there, it’s a short walk westward to EJH Corner House.
